Questions Pet Parents Also Ask

What comes in the Putney set?

The Putney is a complete walking set containing three coordinated pieces: a no-pull harness, a matching lead with a comfortable padded handle, and a waste bag holder. This means everything you need for a well-equipped walk arrives together, ready to go, with no need to buy a separate lead or accessories. The padded-handle lead is comfortable to hold, even for a strong dog, and the waste bag holder keeps clean-up convenient. Providing the harness and its matching essentials as one set makes the Putney both practical and excellent value, ideal for anyone who wants everything sorted in a single, coordinated purchase.

Do no-pull harnesses really work?

No-pull harnesses are genuinely effective for many dogs, working by changing how pulling feels rather than by causing discomfort. By distributing pressure across the chest and offering a front attachment point, they gently discourage a dog from forging ahead and give the owner more control. They are most effective combined with consistent, patient lead training, supporting good habits rather than replacing training entirely. For dogs that pull, a no-pull harness like the Putney makes walks calmer and more comfortable for both dog and owner, while protecting the dog's neck from the strain that pulling on a collar causes. The front and back clips add versatility for both training and relaxed walking.

Is a harness and lead set better value than buying separately?

A coordinated harness and lead set offers real advantages over buying pieces separately. Practically, the lead is made to match the harness in quality and style, so both work together dependably, with no guesswork in pairing suitable items. It is also more convenient and usually better value, providing everything needed for a walk in one purchase. The Putney set goes further by including a waste bag holder too, covering the essentials completely. For anyone setting up for a new dog, or simply wanting a complete, coordinated solution without sourcing matching pieces, a set like the Putney is both a practical and economical choice.

How do I fit a no-pull harness correctly?

Correct fit is essential for a no-pull harness to work comfortably and effectively. Measure your dog's chest girth at the widest point behind the front legs, and their neck, then choose the size accordingly, sizing up if between sizes. Use the adjustable buckles to tailor the fit: the harness should sit snugly without restricting the shoulders or legs, secure enough that your dog cannot slip out, yet loose enough to fit two fingers underneath the straps. A correctly fitted harness distributes pressure properly and allows full, comfortable movement. Check the fit regularly, particularly for growing dogs, to ensure lasting comfort and the effective, gentle control the harness is designed to give.
